- Bharat has a very rich & great tradition and legacy of Science & Technology for day-to-day life. There were hundred and thousands of Scientific Systems & Practices which were the state of the art technologies in day-to-day life. These were brutally abrogated in the Islamic invasion and colonial period. There are many ancient texts and scriptures about Vimana and Vimana Shastra. The most famous is the Vaimanika Shastra written by Bharadwaj Rishi. Other texts include Darpanshastra, Malla shastra, Agastya Sanhita, Yantra sarvasva, Samarangan Sutradhar by Raja Bhoja, Bhagwat Purana, Vishnu Purana etc. There were different types of Vimanas. The Rakshasa Vimanas were giant Vimanas. Shalva vimana was having diameter of few kilometres. It is interesting to know that NASA & other international Space & Scientific research institutions in USA & Europe are conducting in depth research in Vimanashastra. But in Bharat, we are not aware about it & unfortunately it is a matter of funny jokes in so called Scientific community. This course aimed at the study of the ancient scripts & texts about Vimanshastra available now and its relevance with current time. It will also review the application of ancient Bhartiya Vimanshastra knowledge by NASA, ISRO & other institutions. It will help in exploring future scope & study in this sector. We will study various types of Vimana, their structure, the metal used for them, the mechanism of Vimana, types of Vimana and other related areas and topics. This is purely the basic course in Vimana and Vimanashastra with aim of generating overall awareness about Vimanashastra and exploring opportunities for study and research in this sector.
